New Year Fertility Resolutions

Fertility Resolutions

As the holiday stress subsides and New Year’s Eve approaches, those struggling with infertility begin to ponder their resolutions for a more hopeful year ahead. How can I make next year better than the last?  Will 2016 be the year that I can finally have the family that I have been hoping for? How can I make my hopes and dreams finally come true?

A YEAR FOR CHANGE

The average couple takes about six months to a year to conceive. Life often gets busy and many women and men are either fearful of learning their options or simply choose to postpone seeking treatment… Make this the year for change!

MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF

You can start by caring for yourself; reflect on all of the things this past year that you had thought might be beneficial for you but never found the time and begin looking at things that you can do, not just for others, but particularly for yourself. Perhaps this means finally making time to start that fertility yoga you had been planning on doing. Focusing on yourself may allow you to decrease some of the added tension that you have been feeling during the holiday season, while allowing you to begin a healthier lifestyle moving forward.

ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS

It may also be trying acupuncture or a mind body program that will fit your specific needs. Eastern medicine helps many during this difficult journey by helping them to relax while also improving their outcomes. Treatments such as these can be catered to the needs of each client.

NUTRITION

It can be very easy to gain weight during the holidays with the temptations of delicious holiday food and drink. Perhaps your diet needs some improvement and a nutritionist could be just the right person to help you create a plan. This may be the opportunity for you to lose any excess weight and adopt healthy eating habits for the future.

POSITIVITY

It is important to create a positive mantra for yourself – remind yourself of all the beautiful qualities that you possess. It is also important to take some time to process all of your concerns and fears during this difficult path of fertility treatment; consider discussing these factors with a close friend or family member.

WORK WITH A SPECIALIST

Start the New Year with a more positive attitude by reaching out to a specialist that can help you through the past and navigate you toward a brighter outlook. Infertility often creates a loss of control in the lives of those struggling to overcome it. By working with a professional who specializes in the field of infertility, you can begin to find a path that will help you feel more empowered and hopeful for the upcoming year. There are many resources and trusted professionals available to guide you on your journey… Make 2016 the year for you!

Before committing to New Year’s Eve plans, talk to your partner. Decide what festivities you want to participate in and try to anticipate the questions and commentary that may come your way. Having appropriate answers or comments should ensure that you are in control of the situation. If any celebration becomes too difficult to deal with, have an agreed upon exit strategy. Taking care of yourself is the most important thing you can do, especially during the stressful year-end holiday season.
